Description
Protection, Pursuit, Salvation...in that order. That is the sequence of the supernatural works of God as it unfolded over the first forty-six years of my life, culminating with the miracle that was my salvation. It was a miracle of substance and of timing. My testimony is my eyewitness account of how I was first protected from all danger, so that I could later be pursued and then finally, at just the right time, saved.
The protection phase included the dangers as an Infantry Squad Leader in a Reconnaissance Platoon during the Vietnam War. It is the story of two violent accidents during stateside training in the final months of preparation for war; the story of what it felt like to be caught in an enemy ambush and survive; the story of the execution of a raid on a communist sanctuary on the Ho Chi Minh Trail inside Cambodia, part of the largest airmobile combat assault by US forces of the Vietnam War.
When I was inducted into the Army, I was asked what was my religious preference. I had never been asked to make such a declaration before, and I had only a few seconds to decide. After briefly considering the multiple choice options, I guessed I was agnostic, so I checked the box “No Religious Preference.” When my dog tags were manufactured, that vital statistic was recorded on the bottom line, right below blood type A Positive, stamped permanently into stainless steel and hung around my neck for all who may have need to know, and I carried that declaration through all danger.
After arriving home safe after the war, I had no idea what supernatural works lay in my future. I knew nothing of the supernatural or of God. In spite of my spiritual blindness, He pursued me and saved me in His time. My personal testimony concludes with my account, to the best of my ability, of how He pulled it off, and what it felt like at the moment of my epiphany.
